In April 2010, Houldsworth Solicitors secured a 3 year sponsorship deal with the Ribblesdale Cricket League.

The chairman Brian Woodhead explains the League was founded in October 1891 with 8 teams, following a meeting in the Dog Inn in Whalley.

Padiham, Clitheroe, Whalley, Settle, Read, Barrow, Barnoldswick, Burnley St. Andrews were the founder clubs, with a Mr A Aspin of Padiham the first secretary.

Cricket in the League started in 1892. To date there are 55 teams that compete in the League. How fitting that almost 120 years later the League's newest sponsors Houldsworths have offices across the road from the Dog Inn.
